A letterpress-printed booklet highlighting an important social issue.

At the start of my second year at NCAD, we were given the brief to design, typeset, print and bind a chapbook, adapting the theme or content of a recent news article. A chapbook is essentially a leaflet or booklet used in the past to relay news, stories, poems, and songs of all sorts; they were circulated nationwide with cheap production using printing presses.

I read an article about recent changes to the laws around online gambling, and I decided to create a chapbook which centred on the theme of gambling addiction. I then juxtaposed quotes from the 1995 film Casino with statements from recovered gambling addicts to highlight the depth of this issue within modern society.
